showroom text length varies

The text length for my showroom pages (I'm using static pages and not posts) is set at 200 characters, yet each one differs considerably--one is two lines, two have three, and the last has four lines. I wouldn't really care except that it makes the "Click to read more" boxes below the text appear at different heights. Is there some way to either insert spaces so the boxes are aligned or else make it actually use the same number of characters? I've tried changing to other values and the number of characters changes but it still varies.
